International Biometrics Industry Association Managing Director Tovah LaDier steps down

Tovah LaDier has left the International Biometrics Industry Association (IBIA) after serving as its managing director for more than 15 years.

LaDier is stepping down to pursue personal and professional interests, according to an internal association document seen by Biometric Update.

The IBIA Board of Directors acknowledged LaDier’s service during critical years in the organization’s development, lauding the professionalism and skill with which she represented the organization’s interests to various stakeholders, including staff of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, and federal, state and local government agencies, as well as the press, industry critics, and the public.

One example of LaDier’s media and industry engagement is her discussion of how facial recognition providers’ view of regulation in the U.S. has evolved.

LaDier guided IBIA Working Groups that produced high-quality white papers, commentaries and articles on biometrics and the technology’s appropriate application. The annual Connect:ID Conference and Exhibition, which is co-produced by the IBIA and its partner SMP/Terrapin, has become one of the world’s top events for biometrics and digital identity.
