European Association for Biometrics and IDIAP hosting workshop on new research consortium

Next month, the European Association for Biometrics (EAB) and IDIAP will host a workshop in Amsterdam on the European Cooperative Identity Technologies Research Consortium, the EAB-CITeR.

The EAB-CITeR is an EAB committee under the governance of the EAB statutes. It is based on the model of the US CITeR, which has completed over 100 research projects during the past 10 years of its existence. The EAB has delegated the management of the EAB-CITeR to the IDIAP Research Institute based in Switzerland.

According to a statement by EAB, the EAB-CITeR provides a dynamic funding mechanism in order to advance cooperative research initiatives in Europe that are end-user driven. Having a fast track application and selection process, the EAB-CITeR creates an environment where researchers can present their initiatives to a selection committee consisting of end-users, government and industry. A funding decision will be taken within 14 days after having presented for the selection committee. This will take place once every year.

The workshop takes place on April 5 at the Hotel IBIS Amsterdam Airport in the Netherlands. The workshop is free of charge and is open for end-users, government, researchers and industry.
