IDEX sensors featured in new biometric smart card for Middle East bank

IDEX announced that it’s fingerprint sensors have been deployed in biometric smart cards launched by an unnamed bank in the Middle East.

This announcement follows recent news that Taiwan-based JINCO successfully integrated IDEX fingerprint sensors into its dual-interface biometrics cards and that IDEX sensors for biometric cards passed engineering integration and validation at Feitian.

“This customer launch is yet another indication of the significant interest in biometrics in the smart cards for payments industry,” said Stan Swearingen, CEO of IDEX. “Biometric cards provide enhanced security and increased convenience for card transactions.”

The Norwegian biometrics firm has added several experts from the cards and payments industry to its sales and marketing teams in preparation for mass commercialization of its fingerprint solutions for biometric cards. At the AGM in May it was noted that securing a leadership position in the market for biometric cards is the company’s top priority.
