FPC announces new fingerprint sensor deployments

Fingerprint Cards revealed today recent deployments of its fingerprint sensor technology in new smartphones and a biometric card for banks and loyalty programs in China.

The Moto Z3 includes the FPC1145 sensor, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 features the FPC1272 sensor and Xiaomi’s POCO F1 uses the FPC1291 sensor. This follows news from earlier this month that two new BlackBerry smartphones feature Fingerprint Cards’ touch sensor FPC1028.

Fingerprint Cards also announced today its role in and support for Zwipe’s recently announced partnership with Silone CardTech to launch battery-less dual-interface biometric payment cards for banks and loyalty programs in China.

In a statement, the Swedish biometrics company said it is “happy to support its long-standing partner Zwipe in this project with Fingerprints’ ultra-low power consuming fingerprint sensor, tailored for use in smartcards”.

Fingerprint Cards recently identified three market segments as strategic priorities. The company has been executing a turnaround plan including restructuring efforts, after changes to fingerprint technology and the market led to a collapse in sales of its higher-priced sensors.
