IDEMIA to verify ID documents for Pearson VUE exams

Identity verification technology from IDEMIA has been selected to check the identity credentials of end-users of Pearson VUE’s remote online testing offering.

The companies will jointly develop and deploy enhanced ID verification solutions across Pearson VUE’s range of secure global test delivery options, providing accurate identity verification for both remote and in-person testing, expanding Pearson VUE’s ability to the integrity and value of exams, according to the announcement. Users taking tests scan a physical driver’s license or government-issued ID during the exam check-in process, and they are instantly compared against IDEMIA’s identity document library.

IDEMIA’s technology for in-person identity verification is also being piloted for use in Pearson VUE’s secure Professional Centers. A physical device checks multiple security features embedded in the identity document to detect counterfeits or alterations.

“The power of working with IDEMIA is that they help us expand how we validate candidates’ identities,” comments Pearson VUE Global Vice President of Product Peter Pascale. “The ability to quickly evaluate the validity of global government-issued identification documents brings additional security and authorization levels to prevent fraud in high-stakes exams.”

IDEMIA partner JCB recently won a pair of awards for its biometric card system at the 5th annual Cards and Electronic Payments Asia Awards.
