iProov biometric authentication provides free security for intergenerational digital community

iProov will provide its biometric authentication technology for free to intergenerational digital community bloomd under its program to back start-ups supporting community responses to COVID-19.

The integration of iProov facial biometrics provide a “virtual gatekeeper,” reducing the risk of repeated trolling or abusive behavior and making bloomd safer for users.

Bloomd provides opportunities for mentorship, knowledge-sharing and companionship by connecting people from different age groups. The platform’s launch was planned for later this year, but was moved forward to help people impacted by loneliness and isolation during the pandemic. The service has a simple sign-up process, and a usable web application designed with older individuals in mind.

“The idea of an intergenerational digital community allowing knowledge-sharing and companionship is inspired. The addition of biometric authentication ensures that members can be safeguarded as they participate, helping to protect them from abuse or criminal behavior,” comments iProov Founder and CEO Andrew Bud.

“The bloomd vision of enabling the old and young to communicate safely online is very much aligned with iProov’s mission and we are proud to be supporting their work.”

“I met with iProov’s leadership early-on with a real challenge; how to make a digital community of intergenerational exchange secure, accessible and scalable. iProov’s passion for the bloomd mission and its intersection with genuine presence, authenticity and online security has been inspiring,” states bloomd Founder Niccolò Torrigiani.

“Together we have developed an innovative approach to security in digital communities that I am certain will become the norm. iProov has shown us immense flexibility and generosity – we are incredibly grateful for their support in creating a platform which will drive positive social change.”

Challenger bank Knab is the latest business to implement iProov biometrics for secure remote onboarding.
