Zwipe to help Nordic banks roll out biometric payment cards with new partnership

Zwipe has a formed a new partnership to roll out biometric payment solutions with Nordic software and digital banking services provider TietoEVRY, based on the Zwipe Pay ONE platform.

Under the agreement, Zwipe is providing technical support for biometric card integration, enrollment solutions, and end-to-end advisory services to TietoEVRY to help banks successfully deploy fingerprint-enabled payment cards. TietoEVRY will source the Zwipe Pay ONE-based cards’ manufacturing through its network.

“We are excited to roll-out the Zwipe Pay ONE platform in close collaboration with Zwipe, a pioneer and innovator in biometric payments,” states TietoEVRY Head of Card Production and Personalization Services Jarmo Rouhiainen. “We selected Zwipe as the most interesting partner for mass market deployment. Together, we will support banks to roll-out biometric payment cards and wearables at scale. From recent discussions with issuers, we already see broad interest for such innovations.”

TeitoEVRY is embracing biometric payment innovations for more hygienic, secure and convenient consumer payments to meet a recent surge in demand for payment alternatives, according to the announcement.

“Partnering with TietoEVRY is a significant milestone for Zwipe” says André Løvestam, CEO of Zwipe. “TietoEVRY’s deep relations with a large number of banks in the Nordics, Baltics and beyond will be a strategic complement to Zwipe’s technology leadership, accelerating the deployment of next generation contactless payments. Partnering closely with one of Europe’s strongest players in payment services, we are further showcasing the value-add we deliver to the ecosystem.”

Zwipe also formed a partnership to work on mass-manufacturing solutions for fingerprint payment cards with China-based Cardmatix in September.
