Ideal Innovations (I3) has begun offering the first approved ANAB accredited Facial Identification Proficiency Test for biometric forensic examiners online to complement its training courses.

The company has offered regularly updated courses, including online classes for those working from home, since 2015 when the facial examination training courses were first launched. The in-person courses for forensic industry professionals and biometric analysts (such as facial reviewers or facial examiners) run over 5 and 10-day periods. Topics include bones and muscles, dermatology, aging, and hair.

The new proficiency test will evaluate skills and strategies when conducting facial comparisons. The test is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and fulfils the requirement of ISO/IEC 17043:2010 in the field of Proficiency Test Providers.

CEO of Ideal Innovations Bob Kocher says “in 2015, the company launched facial examination training courses recognizing the increasing adoption of facial recognition technology. The proficiency test is yet another dimension to our commitment to the face community.”

I3 also develops biometric systems for the Department of Defense, including Automated Biometric Identification Systems (ABIS), biometric handheld development support and operation and access control systems.
