Mobile driver’s licenses, alternatively referred to as digital driver’s licenses and known by the short forms mDL and DDL, are increasingly popular credentials for driving privileges and identity verification. Issued by a department of motor vehicles or similar government authority and stored in a digital wallet on a smartphone, these credentials are being adopted or considered as digital IDs for a wide range of applications including age verification.
