IDEX showcasing biometric card tech at Payments Asia Summit 2019

IDEX Biometrics is demonstrating the fingerprint technologies being used within a dual-interface biometric smart card for payments at the 2019 Payments Asia Summit today and tomorrow in Shanghai, China.

2018 was a significant year for IDEX Biometrics. In H2 the company announced a production order for its biometric fingerprint sensors for use in a contact based smart card for payments and the start of a pilot by a financial institution in Asia to test dual-interface biometric cards manufactured by Feitian Technologies featuring IDEX’s technologies.

In Q4 2018 IDEX announced collaborations with Visionox to develop fingerprint sensors with integrated displays, and with Shenzhen Excelsecu Data Technology to develop battery-less dual-interface biometric cards with display. The company also announced partnerships with XH Smart Tech, Chutian Dragon, and CEC Huada Electronic Design.

In December IDEX Biometrics announced it is unifying its fingerprint identification and authentication technology, including sensors and modules, under the SmartFinger name.
