Incode acquires MetaMap to level up global identity verification offering

Incode Technologies has acquired Silicon Valley-based customer verification platform provider MetaMap with the goal of addressing the challenges and opportunities in the digital identity verification sector.

The combined identity orchestration company aims to leverage a network that has handled hundreds of millions of identities, in a bid to enhance the reliability of digital interactions. The acquisition will also expand its market share across North America, Latin America and Africa.

Filip Victor, founder of MetaMap, highlights that the merger will allow the combined entity to better serve a growing customer base with a comprehensive suite of identity tools. He also notes the importance of combating financial exclusion as a major challenge.

As part of the acquisition, Victor will leave the company to pursue other interests. Meanwhile, COO Meghna Mann has been promoted to CEO of MetaMap.

“We have long admired Incode’s leadership in technology and their unparalleled customer centricity. By uniting our products and expertise, we will be able to make borderless identity verification accessible to many more customers globally,” Mann adds.

In addition, the company plans for the merger to enhance identity verification in the face of generative AI-fueled fraud. Ideally, the company wants Incode’s real-time biometric liveness detection to work with MetaMap’s optimization strategies to improve business performance.

Ricardo Amper, founder and CEO of Incode, comments on the acquisition, stating that MetaMap’s innovative mapping approach, scalable growth engine, and talent will bolster Incode’s position in the global market. He emphasizes that the merger aligns with Incode’s vision of delivering reliable and effective identity verification solutions, enhancing security and trust in digital identities.

Incode is one of the selfie biometrics providers chosen to participate in the equity test run by GSA as part of its Login.gov pilot, months after receiving Kantara’s Trust Mark for compliance to IAL2.

Founded in 2017, MetaMap offers a platform that boasts helping businesses predict service eligibility, and make better risk decisions by utilizing a comprehensive catalog of user data.
